:::LETTER TO JULIAN FANTINO:::
Subject: proposed meeting cont'd
Greetings Chief Fantino:
Thank you for forwarding my last e-mail to Deputy Chief Steven Reesor.
I look forward to hearing from him and will keep you informed.
I write today to suggest that the enforcing of the Elections Act is more
than just the Financial contribution abuses. It is about abuse of process.
There are a number of areas of the Elections Act that need be enforced
beyond the Financial. This is about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
and the election process.
The Judge that suggested there were areas to investigate was not specific
in their referral to the Police. I trust that you will follow the investigation
of this matter closely with the OPP and see that they investigate all
aspects of the Act - where each of the participants broke with the intention
of the Act - from what has been alleged in the papers
and not requiring a specific claim by citizens. It is not our responsibility
to bring these matters before the courts - it is yours.
We trust that you will seize this opportunity to do your job effectively,
and not feel constrained by what you have identified as a conflict of
interest.
Enforcing the law and the Elections Act is not a conflict of interest.
Not enforcing the spirit of the Law IS.
Respectfully,
Mitch Gold
Peacemaker
