Sunday the 21st Peace the 21st. Early morning game with Terry Thom. Terry and I used to be fairly even, but his belly is getting in the way, or to put it another way he is slightly out of shape. I beat him three - two. The matches were reasonably close notwithstanding I was handicapped by four points. It was very demanding to play five long games. After the match I engaged in some conversation with a former president of the Rotary who expressed some interest in my activity. We will see what comes of this. I have been exposed to Rotary quite a bit over the past three years, and I am still not clear how to get this organization mobilized on issues of importance. That is not to imply that they are not doing great work - they are - all around the world - but the politics of moving a program through their system is monumental or so it seems to me. Perhaps this will be different. Went home and took Annika and her friend Katie (Hiker Mikes daughter) down to the boat to finish the winterizing process. The girls always have a good time together. I returned Katie to her home and then hurried off to the Peace the 21st meditation at Stephen Ginsberg home. I arrived just in time. The meditations was attended by about 23 people and as always we had a fantastic pot luck dinner afterwards. |
