Thursday the 15th Gabriola, Nanaimo meeting

Busy day organizing myself for the next couple of days. And getting some clarity on some situations in Toronto. Defined my situation with Norman. See note. Arrived in Nanaimo at 5 PM and went over to the Diamond Light Centre where the presentation was going to take place this evening. Al Robertson greeted me and helped me add the few touches that I felt would help the presentation. Our IAEWP Banner, and the Home Poster. I went over to the Departure Bay Terminal and met Ellen Hayakawa who was to arrive at 6:30. At ten to seven the boat arrived and Ellen and I hurried over to the meeting room arriving just in time. The meeting was reasonably well attended, as there were representatives from social agencies, including the RCMP, a representative from Dale Lovick’s offices (the provincial representative), a representative from the social welfare offices, Amnesty International, and there were several people from the First Nations including White Cloud who sat at the front table with myself and Michael and two of Michaels supporters. I should add, the whole room was there to support Michael even though he does not have clarity of purpose yet. Hopefully the next few day s I will be able to assist him in that development. I was a reluctant speaker and while I suggested that I would try and be short, as is my nature I did accept the encouragement of several in the audience to continue speaking. I introduced Ellen Hayakawa to address the audience, and she was well received. The session was concluded with a drum session by one o the local elders. The evening was a great success as an opening gambit and how Michael builds on this will be interesting to follow. Unfortunately, no concrete plan was presented and Michael as most of the others on our team, is not familiar with the www.homeplanet.org strategy. This may be the result of my not having the package clearer. I need to address this myself so Michael does not beat himself up over it.

At the end of the session, Ellen and I hurried back to catch the last ferry and back to the homestead. Ellen and I shared stories as to what we are doing and how we might work together. Time will again tell how this works for both of us. I gave up my bed and tried my back on the couch.
