Monday January 19th Working on Gabriola I got up early to drive Brandon to school, but it was unnecessary since Stella came by at five to nine as terry Lynn had arranged. I worked all morning sending faxes to the local newspapers, and also to John Fraser informing him I was going to ask him the question at his session on Wednesday. Strangely enough Johns’ secretary remembered me, but she thought I had been looked after. Not so I told her. She would check it out. What is my number? I called Mary Thunder and talked with Sara Lee her assistant who was very happy to hear from me with my introduction from Crow Dog. We are going to keep each other informed of the schedule as it unfolds, but apparently there will be a Yuwipi on February 7th with a sweat beforehand. I talked with both Tom Lyons and Raymond Desrochers with a view to having a meeting on February 3 in the afternoon. I am going to have to spend some time to organize what I want to accomplish in this meeting. I took the car back to the rental office and then wandered back to Gabriola, meeting Bill on the way there, and a couple, Rick and Carol on the way back. Bill is involved with an energy project that uses waste sawdust to generate energy. I think this could be an interesting issue to explore. I also met Rick and Carol who have lived on the island for 29 years, Rick having been a local fire chief and Carol was a support player in the community life on the island - and she is a great baker. On the way back on the ferry I noticed a poster ad indicating that Robert Theobald was coming to Nanaimo on Friday. As I was walking home from the ferry I stopped for a little lunch and decided to see if any one might be interested in Robert speaking on Gabriola. There seemed to be an interest, so I tried contacting the people running his time here. Apparently he is giving a workshop on Saturday and will not be available - so I offered to give a presentation - we’ll find out tomorrow if the peacemaker is going to present - and then maybe we will think about what I might present - or maybe I’ll wait till after my mirror session with John Fraser. It’s getting late and I am tired. |
