Justine called first thing in the morning to tell me of a discussion with Julia Fuerst at TPN. She does some sort of Programming for TPN on Unsung Heroes. She seemed interested and I forwarded some info to her. Did not hear back by the time I went to Nanaimo.

Organized a brochure for this evenings presentation. I decided to create some thing with ongoing value and one that could work for Michael Dufrane. Came up with a respectable looking document although not at the standard I would have preferred. Getting shifted around the Turner Broadcasting. Have not found out a thing yet. Decided to go to New York and visit the UNICEF meeting on the 26th Spent some time organizing that change of plans. Received letter from Charles - very interesting UNESCO problem. This could be a boon in disguise. I think that I have to think about how to create energy around this UNESCO review process - see letter Jan 21st. (from Charles Mercieca) Changed events list. Included all the 21st events. Suggested to Michael he contact the women who runs the Gabriola events on the solstices. The event at Malsapina was interesting. I entered the room and went over and introduced myself to John Fraser. He remembered me from our meeting at the Royal York on his way to the airport. The complete presentation is on video. I did get exactly what I wanted. I developed a forum to present Global education ideas to the audience. John has agreed to work with me to get the letter to the right person. Several students came over to find out what we were about. David Eaton an economist came over and we had a chat, as did Fred Beavis who was interested in the MAI issue. John was not briefed on the MAI, and I wonder if he is really aware of the impact of the legal decision that is being fought by the oil companies under NAFTA. Actually, how could it be that he would not be aware of such an important issue? I think I will ask him what he knows about it, and what he thinks about it.
