Monday November 10th Getting business cards. Rain is following me from Vancouver as it is the second day of rain here in LA. The last time it rained in LA was months ago. It seems like it is going to continue for a couple of more days. My sister and I went over to my niece Karen in Brentwood. She has a beautiful house with a swimming pool and a very comfortable atmosphere. Karen is the youngest of my sisters four children. She and I almost never got along, ever since she was about four years old. I remember her going crying to her mother because I looked her in the eyes. I think she never has forgiven me for this intrusion. I hope this visit has cleared those many years of uneasiness that she has felt with me. Karen works at George magazine as their West Coast Rep and is sought after by the competition as she is really good at her job. She also is a most beautiful woman with an outgoing personality in spite of an uneasy and unnecessary inferiority complex. Being the baby in the family generally supports the development of this quality. She invited along an old friend of mine from Toronto, Jane Gollom who added a special added quality to the evening. As we left the restaurant Karen said - did you notice that there were two famous people in the restaurant. I asked who they were as I did not recognize any. One was Harry Hamlin, whom of course I did not know and the other, I also did not recognize. I went back to the restaurant and introduced myself to Harry and we had a short chat. Apparently he calls Muskoka his home. Knowing Muskoka very well, having spent many summers on Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau, and Lake Joseph, and knowing the close proximity to Toronto I invited him to contact me the next time passing through Toronto. I also left him my website address in order that he may find out what we are doing, and if interested, to get involved. I went to the car and my niece expressed embarrassment with my actions, (mild). We went back to Karen’s house and chatted for a few hours. Jane left, and assured me she would tell our mutual friend Kristine to call me back in Toronto. |
