Saturday October 11th Vancouver,
Ash, Granville Island
A telephone call from my friend Ashok who is now called Ash. He picked me up around 10:00 AM and our first stop was his fantastic apartment that is a condominium built in an old church. His apartment/ home is very eclectic due to his Lynns' "collecting" habits. We talked a short while with Lynn, but she had a busy day planned organizing a dinner party for the upcoming Thanksgiving. I was tempted to stay on for the party, but I need to get on with some of the "goal" related aspects of this trip. We left the apartment and we went about town seeing Stanley park, the Totem Poles and then a variety of other sites of interest. I learned a great deal about the economy as well as the sulfur industry, pulp industry and the BC Ferry which has on its Board of Directors, Mr. Ash Katey. We talked on a number of issues including global citizenship, and a proposal to have Ash get involved with the IAEWP. We also discussed some business opportunities that arise out of Balu's educational business. We had lunch at Isadoras, a co-op styled restaurant that serves up "healthy food" and every month gives a portion of its profits to a charity. When it came time for the bill, I asked to speak with the manager to demonstrate in real time how I have been living for the past while, but also to determine how to get Isadoras to "get the conversation going". The Assistant Manager, who was very busy as one of the staff did not show up to-day, she heard my story and first she offered that our program could be the beneficiary of next months "charity" contribution. I thanked her for the offer, but I explained that "charity" is not sustainable, and that I would prefer that they put our website www.homeplanet.org on their menu and to get the conversation going on issues of importance. She said that she would bring the idea forward to the Manager, and Ash also indicated he may follow up as he is a member of the restaurant ownership. After Ash paid the discounted bill we went over to his office and had a short discussion on business concepts, in particular three financing ideas: TV series 12 shows, information appliance concept, and public company opportunities. We finished up our explorations by three PM at which time I met Cathy and went on another tour of the City down by Granville Island. We talked with a number of people including a person from Quebec, Monica that is a Quebecker, a Canadian, and a World Citizen.
Cathy and I roamed the city a bit, and had a short meeting with her cousin Nancy who is in the Post Card business. We discussed how we could work together and help each other. Nancy went off for her date, and Cathy and I went out for an Indian Dinner. We talked about the opportunity of how our programs could help Canadian Airlines. Both of us are going to look at how we could possibly work together.
Home, off to sleep.
