Sunday October 19th Pumpkins, Sweat Lodge, and letters to Sheila Copps

The morning was spent carving the pumpkins. By two o'clock we had to hurry over to an Indian Sweat Lodge being hosted by Pat in the tradition of the White Buffalo Calf Pipe. The sweat was well attended and an intense experience. After the sweat, we came home and got a letter off to Sheila Copps' Director of Operations in my attempt to get her to inform the CBC that it should incorporate sustainability in its policy making as well as get them to write a letter to NANBA and the Council of Ministers of Education to incorporate sustainability in their policy.

This is an exercise I have been diligently attending to for the past eighteen months: trying to get our government to address sustainability in its policy. The greatest problem in this exercise is that I am always addressing individuals who either do not understand what I am requesting, or worse, understand too well and choose to ignore the request. My story in this regard would prove frustrating even to the most patient of beings. For me it is an exercise in order to feel comfortable when I challenge those in highly paid positions to do the job they are paid to do.

Called Howard Jerome to mention that I gave his number to a guy I met at the sweat to-day. It turns out that Howard also had a sweat to-day with Vern Harper.
