Bicycled over to meet with Ole Bay. He has a beautiful home overlooking the North shore - a friend of his "Frank" dropped in to play some cribbage the day before he was going in to have a double bypass heart operation. He had his cigarette and coffee acknowledging he "should" change his habits, but not yet. Frank is an engineer and expressed the point of view that mathematics need be taught without computers and calculators. He stated that children are beginning to rely on the technology and do not develop the senses associated with numbers. He stressed the importance of teaching visualization techniques in the educational process. I interviewed him on video, and shared with him some of the ideas of the vision changer program although strangely enough he did not connect to it as he is fixed in his own approach an did not get it that you can teach visualization through the internet. After a time, he left and Ole and I had a chance to explore concepts of mutual interest. Ole has been involved with large scale developmental work around the world and currently has four programs in progress - in Singapore, Kazhikstan, Ukraine and Malaysia. He showed me a letter of authorization signed by a major bank indicating commitment line of credit in excess of 100 million $US. He also mentioned to me he had been involved in a lawsuit where he sued certain Arab individuals for $200 Billion dollars for non performance or some such detail that we did not explore in detail.
After some time of exploring he agreed to work with us and help steer our program. I told him that I would get a package together for him and we could see where we are lacking.
I bicycled home and because Terry Lynn was still in her meeting, I took the car to do some errands - first to check out the house that was for sale - very reasonably priced, great lot and needed a little work to make it work, - on to the Gabriola Sounder to meet with first Sue the editor to find out if she received the article I wrote on the Sweat and then with her husband Bill the Publisher of the Sounder. We got along well and shared some of our past histories that were in the radio and media production field as well as Bill’s interest in Buddhism. After a short visit, I went over to the local Health food store to pick up some honey and meet with Sylvia, the owner of the store. We had a short conversation and were joined by Margo who makes herbal products and sells through the store. Leaving after our visit, I hurried over to the school to pick up Brandon. After arriving home I. quickly called Norman informing him of this connection with Ole. Worked for a couple of hours and then headed off to a concert with the Artisans.
Going to a concert on Gabriola is an interesting experience - almost as interesting as the event itself. Driving along roads at night with virtually no signs, we came upon the home that was to host the concert. As we made the final turn on the road, a young girl wearing a reflective jacket gave us instructions how to get to where the event had been moved to. Something like the way rave parties are handled in the big cities with none of the tension. We received or instructions and found our way over to an artists studio which became the host arena for the evening. According to Bob Bossin the promoter of the event there was an illness in the family where the original event was to take place. He introduced the Artisans who were from England - they put on an excellent evening of entertainment and as well let me video the second half of the show. I might add as well they had a draw for a CD or Cassette and yours truly was the happy winner. All I might add on video. I took the cassette, and the three troubadours made me a formally informal presentation of the prize.
