Friday October 3.
Met with Caroline at the front desk and our budget was accommodated again.
During my walk from the front desk back to our room I decided it may be a
good for both Barbara and I if I were to stay in Banff. She has some time
deadlines to deal with, and it was very stressful for her having me do all
my meetings along the way. We packed the car in such a way that all my
"stuff" was easily extricated. Interviewed a fellow from Vancouver US just
outside of Seattle? He was a good interview even if he did go on a bit
long on Jesus as the only path to salvation. He did acknowledge the
importance of world citizenship as long as it did not contravene the bible
and he was not an authority sufficiently in understanding the values of
world citizenship, nor the bible for that matter to have a firm opinion.
Driving to Banff was easy except for the angst of the separation we were
going to undertake in Banff. It was clearly the best thing for us to do.
Upon arrival in Banff I located the Brewster Mountain lodge which was in
excess of $100. Daniel at the front desk was able to lower it to $59 after
he heard my story, and possibly I will be able to do better this morning.
I went and met with Cathy Rettie at the Parks Administration office and got
her involved in the story. Went also to an area in the Administration
building to get my park fees reimbursed. They will mail it to me. I also
met with Mary Brewster who works in community Services at the Mayors office
and went around to see the Mayor Ted Hart and Sherri at the local
Newspaper. Will meet with them tomorrow.
While searching out Ted Hart the Mayor I ran into a Tibetan Monks who were
the same persons that Dr. Steven Aung and Justine hosted in Edmonton on
Wednesday. It was at their organization meeting that I had met Stephen.
I talked with them for a bit and got permission to attend their event and
to video it. It is called the Joyful Wisdom Tour, Tibetan Music and Dance
by the Lamas of the Ganden Jangtse Monastery. This was a pleasant
experience and very well attended by the Banff Community. I also learned
that the Monks are preparing a Peace Sand Mandala and will try to video it
tomorrow. I went back to my hotel room grabbed a quick shower, little nap
and went off to the event at 8 PM.
Called Terry Lynn to see if she wanted to see me, and brought her up to
date on my recent experiences. Will decide in the next day or so what I am
going to do. I am in the middle of Canada, and no transportation. Will
explore.
