Banff still, message from Greenwich, Backway Alley, Taste, Compadres
Checked my messages from TO. There was an important message from Rajwant Singh from the UK. He has met with Tony Blairs' "man in charge" of the Millennium Experience Peter Mendleson and needs to talk to me. I called him and told him about the possibility of Dr. Stephen Aungs' offer to move the 2000 conference for the World Natural Medicine Foundation to Greenwich. We exchanged information and he needs me to get his information up on the our website.
Further conversations to-day.
Keith Macdonald - Brewster Mountain Lodge - Keith was extremely supportive and agreed to let me stay on an extra night at no cost.
Fraser - at the local AVIS car rental agreed to waive the one way charge and the mileage charge
Jonnie Bachusky at the Crag and Canyon newspaper has agreed to follow up with a story next week. And I am to go back tomorrow to meet with Sherri Zickerfoose the editor.
Mountain Magic Equipment - Doug Godfrey indicated he might write a letter of support to Sheila Copps. He also gave a great interview pointing out that because of the cost to get into the park much of his business that related to mountain climbing has gone elsewhere. He thinks that our program may be beneficial but he was concerned about how one might administer it. I think that it is a no problem problem. The coin will find its own value. The people in the area need to be made aware of a perceived value. They could almost treat it as their own dollar if they chose as world citizens. Acknowledging its value as one that can buy food shelter clothing, or entrance into world heritage parks. - Canada only at first until the other parks agree to come on side.
Mark and Pat upstairs at Mountain Magic. I obtained a couple of yard of material to tie up my sleeping bag. I exchanged a story and two friendship pennies.
Its interesting now that I now check out the level of story that I tell, depending on the need I have. I should speak to whole rooms so that I do not have to talk so much. This is not efficient use of my time. Check your model. Not sustainable. Grabbing a bite on the way over to the Internet shop I met a Bob Stratton who was sitting working on his computer. I went over to query his end use. He was working on an interface program for Pocket computers. I forget the details as the product was not connected to me at all. He also mentioned that he has just sold to the Alberta government a program to facilitate the integration of policy documents. I am not too clear on the function, but I feel if I understand what his program does it will be very beneficial he suggested I get in touch with his Toronto Associates.,
Bryon at Backway Alley. I spent several hours there as Bryon is the Internet connection point in Banff. He is an 18 year old entrepreneur and he was most helpful. He finally got me in touch with my server in Toronto and I have sent my two week summary up on the net. Also met during this experience John Drummond who has agreed to promote our site on 700? Search engines.
I gave Bryon a few discs for his trouble and he was very appreciative - so was I - good exchange.
Blue Sky Gifts and Candy is owned by Peter and Helen Arvanetes originally from Greece. They have been in Banff for forty years and have a son and daughter - the son is entering the RCMP and their daughter is a Prosecutor for the government up in Yellowknife. They are Canadians. Their home is Canada. They have just opened this store having shut down their restaurant a year and a half ago.
I went over to the Taste of Banff and Lake Louise. I did not get the name of the guy on the front gate, but he is in the AV business and was volunteering his services to this event because his daughter was involved. A great show presenting entertainment foods great ambiance. Compares well with any of the community events I have ever attended. First contact talked with Joisia whose parents are from Poland in spite of her very Danish/Swedish look. She is working for Sunshine Tours or something like that. She worked in Paris before and has just been in Banff a short time. Very well spoken and understood instantly the value of their writing to Sheila Copps. Will talk with her boss on it. At Grandmas met Moira and her brother - great food served up - rice, banana, tofu, peanut sauce and other seasonings.-good chat - offered up free food if I was a Swami - I said - almost - I was blessed by one several days ago - maybe I 'll see her tomorrow as she offered up Talked with Gerhard Frey and he offered me an Ostrich Burger with Saskatoon Berry Sauce. Interesting taste even if not on my diet. Met Bill Drummond who was one of the event organizers - he invited me to meet him in the admin building tomorrow to discuss our issues further. Talked a short while with James E Lawson a CA from Calgary who also is the CFO of the Bow Valley Brewing Company. He has agreed to contact Sheila Copps directly with a support letter.
Stayed a little and enjoyed the entertainment presented
with the thought of approaching the musicians, but they were tied
in performance, and I wanted to get over to the Banff Theater.
Talked my way in to the show, but it was not the
show that I wanted to see. It thought I was to see Sue Inguluk
(sp?) but I read the brochure wrong - October 11th.
Anyway, I met Greg parry the site security official and he helped
me out. Met the two guys at the bar and gave them a short story
and Friendship Pennies that they seemed to appreciate. Names
on video. Also names of Performers ( Compadres) on video.
After program I approached one of the entertainers and talked
with him shortly about the need for a song on world citizenship.
I suggested the macarena or tango style that they played and run
through all the names of every country. After the show I got
a lift back to town with Derrick and friend whose name I missed.
On he way home I stopped in at Wild Bills, and in exchange for
a quick story, he bought me a drink. I should say Scott Stevens
was the most accepting (except Bryon) of all conversations done
to-day.
