October 8th Leaving Calgary, outline
of work to do:
Talked this morning with Calgary 2000, Carol Ryder. She will look at our site and see what connections may work for her. She asked me if I was involved with the Millennium Council of Canada. I talked of my support for the Council, but noted that the support was not mutual.
Got in touch with Lewis Levin and went to lunch. Lewis is involved with "self-realization" and we had an interesting discussion over lunch on our different perspectives. We also discussed the meaning of the word "entropy" Lewis used it to describe a business condition as taught by some real estate developer. I explained my understanding of the word and it appeared to be a different understanding. We both agreed to check the definition to determine the appropriate use of the term.
Farewells said, I went to stand in line at Canada 3000 for the "stand-bye" price. Received a call from Cathy and I now have a place to stay in Vancouver for a few days. I wonder what job she has now. She used to work for Wardair in their training department. I remember that she had trouble making the decision to go to Vancouver. I was spending some time with her when she was in the throes of that decision process, although I did not follow it too closely.
In checking my phone messages Norman called and said he would let me know by Friday of the Bantra interest, and at that time he would want to know what my strategy might be. I do have a plan. As I make the flight to Vancouver, I am able to make notes while I travel for the first time. Since I had to do all the driving, both by choice, and healthy concern after watching Barbara drive, and having the convenience of being so uncomfortable physically when she was driving, I did not have to broach the technical aspects of driving.
Now with nothing but time, I have 20 days left on my adventure, or rather the only date I have to be back for is November 23rd which a friend needs me in Toronto for. As well, I miss Annika and Veronica and my many Toronto friends. But I could travel and see my sister Joann, and also my niece Abby and her child that I have not met yet. So at this moment I see about two to three days in Vancouver, then a visit with Terry Lynn for a week or so, and then maybe a trip to LA.
The following is what I have to accomplish over the next period of time. A decision must be made on which order to do this.
Took Cathy to dinner and she re-organized her apartment to accommodate my stay. Am I ever lucky! Called Ash Katey a young old friend and found his brother Balu on the other end of the telephone. It sounded like Ash so I just started talking as if he knew who it was because I know that Ash recognizes my voice. I know this because about a year ago I called him after not talking to him for over five years and after I said "Hello Ashok" he said back without missing a beat "Hi Mitch". Incredible memory. Yes. Also, in Vancouver everyone calls him Ash, only his Toronto friends call his Ashok. I will have to get used to this.
Balu as it happens is working on some educational
programs in other countries, and we are going to explore if there
are some areas to help each other.
