Greetings all Mayor candidates:

I have a proposal to all of you.

Here is what I propose to you.

When I am Mayor, I will appoint a Shadow Councillor Cabinet at City Hall.  Each of you, upon learning some common core curriculum that is being taught around the world and found included in the "great mind " program on our site - a simple requirement, will form this shadow cabinet to attend Councillor Meetings on issues that you will as a group decide upon.  This shadow council will be paid from 20% of councillors discretionary budgets. Not a full salary, but a stipend to warrant your attention.    Your efforts will therefore not go unrewarded. You will provide feedback in a process of City Accountability.    I will take half of my Mayors Salary and retain David Miller  to speak for me.  He is a great speaker - and he looks good too.  In his role as my speaker, I will enroll him in Rotman's School of Business CEO course on Integrative Thinking.  A necessary process for a CEO and a Mayor of a Great City.     During the four years he will have met many CEO's and will have developed relationships with them so that he will be a better leader. After the end of my term - he will be well equipped to be the Mayor.  And you will be better prepared to challenge him.

Let me assure you, from watching David over the past three years he has done a miserable job, ignoring the messages that I brought to him and even ignoring the commitments he made to me during the Campaign last time.  He must be held accountable if only to me.  That is not to mention the other aspects that he has botched up over the past three years - the airport - has he stopped it?  financing?  has he any process to refinance our city?  and the First nations Peoples . I would like him to answer what he has done to assist them in the settling of the Toronto Land Claim.   NOTHING.   and Union Station, and all the Waterfront development.  What a hodge podge!

His platform - if you have bothered to read it is an embarrassment.
You may note that he does not address accountability.  He makes economic promises with no plan other than to increase the begging capacity of City Hall.  We have tried to take the beggars off the street.  We do not want them running City Hall.  He is going to spread $13 million dollars around the City as if it were confetti.  He did the same thing in August - he spent $1M to test a bike path idea on the Waterfront - while the Island roads needed that Million to make ALL the roads there world class for Tourists.  The Tourist will have to wait at least three more years according to my best observation of their process for refurbishing the roads.  He is mismanaging our Funds.  We must stop him before he does some serious damage.  The islands are separate so we can easily see the mismanagement  - imagine the rest of the city?  I shudder to think about it.

I will not run City Hall.  I will steer it.  In a good way without compromise to political parties, unions, current management  or past debts. I will bring in a new funding formula - that when I brought the idea up at the St. Lawrence Forum David used his second chit to  debate.  He went off topic and Anne let him.  no one but me seemed to notice.  He used the technique called - I will answer what I would have preferred what you had said.  Great technique  -but dishonest to a fault.

I appreciate the effort that each of you is making in order to be heard.  The only outcome you will have from this is the experience of being in the running.  Consider this a training exercise as I did last time.  I learned.  You will learn.  There will only be one Mayor.  Let it be me, and let you form my advisory team.  My process will not cost the city one dime more - rather it will double the capacity of our Councillors with your great efforts.

This is a wise thing to consider.  Impress yourself with the decision you make here.  What a wonderful way to continue to participate in the process for the next four years - as a time to learn, to prepare yourself for the next election.  During the next four years we will make City Hall Accountable.  Together we will be able to get staff to stop its charade of using its own position of authority of advising the City to be responsible to the agreements that the City has made.  Agreements like the Green TO initiative which have virtually been ignored.  The development of the Portlands.  The management and accounting for  the Toronto Islands.  The maintenance of our Ferry System.  The management of the Airport.  The maintenance and building of our roads.  The establishing of alternative energy systems,  The development of systems for growing our own food. Planning for youth meaningful youth involvement. Developing future BUSINESS in the City - not giving away the keys.   We should be building not sweeping..

Let us bring Peace Order and Good Government (POGG) to our City Hall.  With us working together, as concerned citizens, we can do this.  This is not a revolution that we are talking about.  It is an evolution of responsible government.  And this is a first step.

I  ask you to put your trust in the GO for Gold Campaign and let us put in front of  Mr Miller  the issues that my team find important - not the ones that he chose to answer at the St. Lawrence Market that were seeded by myopic minds ignoring the major issues of our day.  Accountability, Transparency , Ethics and Triple Bottom Line Accounting. and Peace issues.

Impress yourself with the wisdom of your higher self as you contemplate what I am proposing.  You have nothing to lose - and everything to gain.

May you be blessed in this service you provide to our great City.

Peace

Mitch Gold

Go for Gold Campaign.

P.S.  I have attached my  Campaign brochure - consider well the PROBES - they contain the issues of our day.  Our thinking, our processes, and our Future as the greatest City on the Planet.  Concerned, Caring, Compassionate  and Cooperative.  (4C's)
