Go for Gold

Greetings to all my friends, neighbours and associates, especially those interested in  accountability, education,  social justice, and spiritual awareness.

I made a decision on September 19th - my mother's birthday,  to run for Mayor of the City of Toronto.

I seek your support.
Either financially, or with your good intentions and wishes.

Last election I ran under the banner - Go for the Gold - but vote for Miller.  Truly at that time I did not want the job -  yet I am forced to run again because Mr. Miller has not listened at all to the notions that we brought to his attention during the last election campaign and thereafter  - ( his offices have stone walled me from having meetings with him) - obviously he did not want to talk) .

My campaign will not vary too much from last time - except NOW I am going to focus much more on principles of our solutions rather than discussing any issue specifically.  Our Vision for 2015 holds true today as when it was written 3 years ago, and it would be a shame if another election went by and the City did not integrate the ideas of the Great Mind program and the TOPS Program into its processes.  Added to these are the 16 Principles of the Fourth Way.

As a byproduct of my activity hopefully some aspects of the City Processes will come out with regards to Accountability and sustainability.   It is here where you can help.

GO FOR GOLD will be my slogan.

This time I am promoting Accountability at the Mayors office.

For the last several months I have attempt to obtain information from the City as to the operations of the Toronto Islands. (see copy of petition below)  I have received absolutely no reports other than the Operating and Capital Budget Summary for 2005.  This document confuses more than enlightens one.

I have asked for a number of departments to clarify:  including Shirley Hoy the City Clerk, and Neil Zaph the Capital developments officer and Elaine Baxter Trahair of the Waterfront Secretariat - as well as a number of Councillors - who have also done nothing that I am aware of.  ( including Sandra Bussin, Jane Pitfield, Pam Macconnel)

I have been living on the Islands for over two years and have been around the islands for over twenty.    I am of the opinion that these islands can be operated more effectively for all the people.   I will make no representations that I speak for all the islanders - they have their own politics and I am not part of their process.   I will speak as a human being that sees the Islands as a resource for Peace - Spirit Island -and the Waterfront Development as vehicles for Peace - working with the largest future development for our City - the $17 Billion dollar Development.

How can you help?  City elections are about name recognition.  GOLD - Go for GOLD.  Spread the Word - it will come back to help you.   Easy as PO.

Whenever you are putting butter on your bread - say to yourself - Go for Gold.
When you see an amber stop light - say to yourself - Go for Gold.
When you see our City Skyline - look at how the sun reflects off the buildings - say to yourself - Go for Gold.

Have your children say - Go for Gold.
When every you are challenged by a City official - say to yourself - Go for  Gold.

If you do - it will be as easy as understanding PO

Peace Opportunity
Paperless Office
Politically Outrageous
or add your own PO when we Go for Gold.

If we all are able to wake up in time and Go for Gold - our Great City will become what we would prefer it to be - a jewel of Canada and a world leader for Peacemaking.

Please let me know if you would like to participate and how you might do so.

Go for Gold.

Peace

FOR Background: last election Results

and you will follow what I did last election.

and read the letter initiated June 30 2006 and followed up July 24th 2006 with this petition and subsequent telephone calls:

I hereby petition the City, its manager Shirley Hoy, and the three Deputy City Managers, Sue Corke, Fareed Amin, and Joseph Pennachetti to use their good offices and ask their Managers to Report to City Council and to myself on the economic relationships between the City and ALL TORONTO ISLAND operations, including but not limited to
Reports from each of its Managers and Directors.

These interactions should include leases, taxes, and business contracts that have an effect on the Toronto Islands, the Ferry, the Parks, the Yacht Clubs, the Seniors Homes, the Island Trust, TEDCO, the Entertainment area, All water rights usage, Airport usage and  contracts, City Works, Transportation Services, Economic Development
and Tourism, Social Services, Police Services, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Services, Clean and Beautiful Secretariat, Waterfront Secretariat, Toronto Water, and anything else  that may be pertinent as determined from your Pie Chart and Fact Sheet.

In Short we are analyzing the Island Operations, and someone in City Government ought to take on this as a Responsibility and do it quickly.

Time is of the essence,.

Sincerely

Mitch Gold
