Greetings:

Here we are in the 21st day of the electoral campaign , and not one writer has covered even one of my Campaign probes - nor identified who I am, and what I am doing in this  elec5toral race.

Yes I will be the next Mayor in spite of the ignorance of the Media.  I can not explain it beyond - following the rules.

None have covered the fact that both Mr Miller and Ms. Pitfield too (unfortunately) will have their Nomination forms rejected.  I did not intend to bring down Ms. Pitfield, but if it is any consolation - she will be of value when I am Mayor.  Her knowledge and honesty will be honoured by me when I am Mayor.  David we will send back to school for a time to have him understand integrative thinking.  (Rotman School of Business)  I will fund this from my Mayors salary.

But why I am writing to day is to bring o the attention to the media something that it should have learned on its own -- and made public as is its duty.

Over the past three weeks we have heard many lies form both Mr. Miller and Simon Legree from Tennessee.  I still refuse to utter his name, not wanting to give it and form of life.

I went to the Bankruptcy file of Mr. Legree and found the following information, which is totally contrary to the perception that is being put forth by Mr. Legree.and echoed by media writers.

In the Court File # 31-or-423575 Dated 20050627  the Ontario Superior Court of Justice reports the following:
Mr. Legree who made an application for discharge from bankruptcy wad denied an absolute discharge.    Had your read the 16 page document you would learn Legree "did pay fees for one of his sons to board at a Private school for one and has regularly paid fees to another private school for one of his daughters".   You would also find that Legree "has contributed to his bankruptcy by extravagant living.  A bankruptcy fact is therefore established and an absolute discharge is not available.   The evidence is that .... consciously and continually neglected to pay income tax installments when due and appeared to regard his obligation to pay income tax subordinate to all other personal obligations."

The judge found " I am unable to conclude that a person who intentionally neglects to pay income tax obligations of hundreds of thousands of dollars over a period of many years, can be regarded, by any standard as" unfortunate"..  ( Mr. Legree was attempting to claim that title "unfortunate".)

Legree :"has followed a consistent pattern of non-payment or late payment of installments of income tax required to be paid under the ITA.  In fact, during the currency of the hearing, (Legree) indicated that 1994 installments would be paid out of distributions of 2005 income.   It will be a condition of   .... discharge that all installment payments be brought up to date and kept current.   Taxes eleven years later - great tax planning model.  Imagine if Toronto Inhabitants paid their taxes this way?

As a matter of record, I telephoned the Trustee in Bankruptcy to determine if Mr Legree has been granted a discharge yet.  An answer was not forthcoming - although the Trustee did say he would phone me back.   He either did not know ( a possibility) or needed to find out.

The Judge went further:  (29)   I am not prepared to accept the submissions of counsel for (Legree)  ....in view of (Legree's) past history of consciously ignoring his obligations as a Canadian taxpayer to pay income taxes owing by him and his continuing rather cavalier attitude toward the payment of income tax installments it appears to me that it would have been salutary and rehabilitative effect to impose on (Legree) a condition that further payments be made to the estate as a condition of his discharge."

It should be noted that these kinds of reprimands are quite unusual in the Bankruptcy Court Proceedings and I trust the Media will Report these facts and Challenge Mr. Legree as he should not be put in the position of being our next Mayor.

And what do you press do?

I would like you to accept this research done by me, and in exchange I would like you to report on one of my ideas - fanciful possibly - but evolutionary if applied.

Imagine that we changed one by-law to enable all buildings in Toronto (according to desire of area) - the right to build one more story on their building.  This one more story will be financed through a program that will have the following qualities.  Estimated amount available per home = $50K  This amount will be lent by a conventional bank - by way of a mortgage on the property, and this mortgage will have a number of conditions attached to it.  ( and guaranteed by the Federal /and Provincial Government in a negotiated percentage.)
1) the person living in the space generated will be a person that comes from "the homeless", a university student, or a senior family member or some levels of mental challenges".  This person will have to learn some basic skills in the growing of food (sprouts)  and other kinds of vegetables that will be under their charge and growing on a "roof garden" environment similar to the current roof garden project of the city.  This person will harvest the food and deliver it to the household or landlord below on a regular and timely basis.
The landlord will receive rent from the tenant to pay down the loan over a ten year period with interest being the main component being interest at conventional rates carried by the tenant and the loan will be paid down by the government according to a formula consistent with the governments commitment to provide housing for the underprivileged and its commitment to eliminate "homelessness".

Some penalty clauses will be built in and this idea will obviously have to be fleshed out, but its basic value to the City should be obvious.

What are the obvious benefits of this activity will be:
An economic boom in the construction industry for all phases of the industry.  if we did 10,000 homes in a year, we could generate a half billion dollars of new construction.
We would  create a plethora of jobs.
We would have the homeless moved off the streets.
The costs of University housing will go down.
We would take stress off our systems.
We would have a healthier community.
We would have these people empowered, knowledgeable in growing foods, and relationships would be built by people sharing their foods.
The Large condominiums that are being built that are stressing our infrastructure will have less reasons to be built.

We would be able to explore in developing technologies around this project that we could market around the world.  Education, health results, measuring systems would all be easy to attach to the process.

Who wins with this?  We all do.  Is their a loser - possibly large developers that are planning to obliterate our Waterfront and destroy the fabric of our City.  But they could then focus on the Portlands and create something magnificent there.

This idea was expressed in my Vision in 2003, and is something that we should begin discussing and arguing about NOW.  So we can get on with it when I am Mayor.

My next article will be on how we approach the First Nations situation in the City of Toronto - to the benefit of Toronto.

I trust you media respect the work that I have done and will begin to publish my ideas for discussion.

If the rules are followed, Miller and Pitfield will have their nomination forms Rejected by the Minister of Municipal Affairs.   Simon Legree will be shown for what he is - - not worthy to be our Mayor, and I will be the last dog standing - with apologies to Belinda.  I understand she is taking up knitting Friday nights and deserves better advice than she is getting.
As Mr. Miller always says - follow the Rules.  I trust the Minister will see that the City Solicitor follows the rules and then I will be able to do my job as message carrier.
1) Melt the ice in the heart of man  (Angaangaq)
2) bring forth the golden rule  (many)
3) incorporate wisdom into our political decisions  (Angaangaq's grandmother)
and 4) recognize that we are at the crossroads and acknowledge what we do is important.  (Arvol Looking Horse)

and I trust that you Toronto media are up to the task.

It is difficult enough to follow the path of the Peacemaker when none of you are aware of the story, and none have the curiosity to look at why I am running, nor what I bring to the Mayors office. What will be my "white stone canoe" for you oh wise ones?"

Look beyond my hat and my long hair - and see that  I am the best person for the City at this moment in our history - but I cannot do it without you.

Peace

Mitch Gold
